There are a number of different marks used specifically for Secessionist pieces.

It is more commonly seen on larger items.

It was further developed by Minton who employed John Bell, and other famous sculptors to produce figures for reproduction.

It has a small stain and some surface scratching inside otherwise superb condition.

I saw on his blog that Eric Knowles, famous expert on the UK version of the BBC's Antiques Roadshow, is tipping the collection of Jean Muir's Minton bone china trinket boxes designed in the 1980's as one to collect for the future.

It seems likely that pattern No 1 is used for experimental pieces or when the designer is not sure what number to use.

All are blue wedgwood and have a raised white floral pattern that I cannot find on Ebay or Etsy.

Mintons first made a copy in 1848; by the version illustrated here, from 1849, the figure had lost the heavy chains between her hands, which were perhaps too expensive to make for a popular product.

No chips or cracks to note though there is some slight glaze crazing.

In my view, the Minton name for its antique and vintage china is very much holding its own.
